IEEE – it’s simpler than other referencing styles!
My ambition was always to become a teacher, and I have enjoyed a successful career since graduating in 2003. During this time, I have discovered a love of teaching children to write, helping them to edit their work and develop their spelling, grammar and punctuation skills. This has led me to proofreading, which builds upon my existing career, enables me to work at a more advanced level of English and combines my passions for reading, writing and helping others to polish their work.
My interest in proofreading has developed through a passion for reading and an enjoyment of teaching English spelling, punctuation and grammar and supporting pupils in editing their writing. My role as a teacher has enabled me to develop my own grammatical knowledge. During my career, I have become proficient in using a range of word processing programs, and I have enjoyed further developing my formatting skills through the Becoming A Proofreader course.
I see proofreading and editing as a vital part of the journey of a piece of writing. I love the excitement of reading an original piece and identifying all the positive parts. It is then incredibly satisfying to take these positives and help to build them into a piece that shines! I enjoy trying out different options to see which is most effective and thinking about where that writing might finish its journey.

‘Matilda’ by Roald Dahl.
In my spare time, I enjoy developing my photography and gardening skills. I am an avid reader of a range of fiction and enjoy practising my French language skills through reading French novels.
I like to read the document several times before making any changes to become familiar with the author's style. It is then much easier to edit, ensuring that the amendments match the original tone.
