Favorite referencing style

I have to say APA because it's the style I am most familiar with.

Why I became an editor

I have always been fascinated by languages, how we learn them and how we use them to communicate. As a student and teacher, I love the ways that reading and writing can make connections happen for people all over the world. Proofreading is a great way to be involved with the business of writing and to help writers produce polished, quality work.

Background and experience

My passion for writing and languages has taken me through a variety of classroom settings and roles. I have volunteered for a non-profit creative writing organization serving public school students of all ages. I have worked as a tutor in an adult ESOL classroom and as a first grade ELL teacher. I have taught English virtually to children in China, and I have been on the other side of the desk as a student learning a new language. My work (a short fiction and a poem) has appeared in journals.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I enjoy the final steps of polishing a piece of writing. I can appreciate how much work goes into a final draft, and recognizing the result is something to be proud of.

Favorite book:

There are so many! One of my all-time favorites is “Go Tell It on the Mountain” by James Baldwin.

Hobbies:

If the weather is nice, you can find me hiking, camping or gardening. If the weather is yucky, I might be trying to learn how to crochet or speak a new language.

Editing tips:

I try to read once for a sense of what the author is trying to accomplish. Then I can go back and notice errors or inconsistencies.1`1
