Why I became an editor
I proofread and edited colleagues’ dissertations during my MA and PhD studies. I’ve always loved reading and learning new things, and becoming an editor let me combine my passion for reading with my skills and experience as a writer.
Background and experience
Proofreading and editing has been an integral part of my academic career. I completed my PhD in Film Studies in 2020. My interdisciplinary study contributes to the fields of film, history, architecture and gender studies. I have presented my research at international conferences and am a published author. I have also completed various teacher training courses and have experience teaching postgraduates.
Why I love proofreading and editing
Words hold great power. I enjoy helping people find the right words to get to the bottom of what they want to express.
Favorite book:
‘Ancillary Justice’ by Ann Leckie.
Hobbies:
I love reading sci-fi novels and watching sci-fi shows or documentaries about outer space.
Editing tips:
Take a break before you do the final check. Looking at the text with a fresh mind will let you catch errors you previously overlooked.
